Turkish military build -up near the border is not new, and indeed potentially very dangerous,- more dangerous than anything seen so far. However recent sudden surge in publicity around it may have to do with blame attribution for the collapse of the talks. --Resup (talk) 08:30, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Artillery range

Strange! How far is the Menagh air base from he Turkish border? Beyond artillery range, I think. -- Petri Krohn (talk) 12:42, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

I've read somewhere, I think on parteibuch, that the howitzers they use have a range of 30-40 km, which is more than enough for what they are said to be doing. --CE (talk) 09:26, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
It is, i think, some 20 km away, so close enough -map--Resup (talk) 09:46, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
Here are what seem to be screenshots of Turkish TV showing a map with the range overlaid. Goes all the way to Aleppo city which is I guess 50 km from the artillery position. --CE (talk) 14:38, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
The linked article says 60 km range and brags about the world's best artillery. --CE (talk) 14:49, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Russian sources say self-propelled artillery Firtina (Storm) (wiki-english) was used, the longest range in Turkey, 30 km without rocket-assist, 40 km (+) with rocket assist shell --Resup (talk) 18:49, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
