Talk:Tower22

From A Closer Look On Syria
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Anomalies in reported details of attack

Lack of photos of scene, damage or injuries

No photos released. Unsubstantiated claims have to be treated with high skepticism

Not intercepted as surveillance drone returning at the time

From the satellite imagery of Tower 22 it has facility for helicopters, but there is no obvious strip for drones to land. So the mix up sounds implausible

High number of causalities

Some think a single drone would be unlikely to account for up to 47 casualties. If a single drone hit eg a crowded canteen or dormitory then maybe it's conceivable. Wikipedia says the fatalities were slipping in tents.

Shahed drones?

I am doubtful that Iraqi resistance groups would have access to them. Is there any evidence of them deploying them before?

Other bases

It was claimed by Iraqi group that they also hit 3 bases in Syria in this wave of attacks. US is thought to not to want to draw intl attention to its presence in Syria at this time.

For me the existence of Tower22 was news. It is in the nature of the thing, i.e. as you wrote US wanting to hide their presence there, that we have no conclusive information. --CE (talk) 18:05, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
